Trailer #1
The frame of the trailer, the wheels, and the lights was found at a house I was about to renovate. The frame of the trailer was in good shape, leaf springs were in tack, wheel hubs were clean and the 2-inch hitch connection was ready for business.
I started by removing most of the metal from the top of the trailer. It was heavy and did not make much sense.
Replaced both wheels along with the wheel bearings. the new wheel bearing got a fresh packing of grease. A Swivel Tongue Jack was installed so that the trailer could be moved easily and without the use of a vehicle.
Once I could roll the trailer around I started welding. I used some of the steel removed from the trailer to create a front end so-to-speak. I widened the trailer by 9 inches on each side using a 1.5-inch 1.5-inch steel square tube.
Once the frame was completed I sanded the steel, cleaned it, and painted the trailer with rhino liner black spray protector.
After the paint dried a new wire harness and LED light were installed. Once the electrical was tested and passed inspection I installed 1×3 deck boards to the bed of the trailer.
The project took 10 hours to complete and cost roughly $100 in materials.
